Our Cosmetic Treatments
Wrinkles occur when there is tension in the facial muscle, due to the nerves releasing too much acetylcholine. When Botox is introduced directly into the facial muscle, it blocks the nerves from receiving this substance and as a result, the muscles relax thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkles whilst diminishing facial lines.
Are Botox Injections Painful?
You will experience minimum discomfort from the injection. A very fine needle is used, and most patients say it's like a small pinch upon insertion.
How Long Does Botox Last?
The effects of Botox will last three to six months. As the muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. Lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time, because of the muscle shrinking.
When a practitioner advertises dermal filler treatments, they are talking about a substance that can be injected into the face to improve appearance. Around the age of 25, our bodies stop producing collagen and elastin, the two most important proteins that work together to keep the tissue firm and supple. In addition to this, existing collagen begins to break down.
Without these two proteins we begin to display the typical signs of ageing such as deep lines, wrinkles and hollow cheeks because the body is no longer able to keep the tissue strong and supple.
Dermal fillers offer a more youthful appearance to the skin. Dermal fillers are made up of Hyaluronic acid (a naturally occurring sugar chain molecule) that attracts and binds water in the skin and works in harmony with our body's collagen and elastin to support important proteins, giving the skin a more youthful appearance.
How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?
Dermal filler can last anything from between 6/18 months depending on the type of Hyaluronic acid used. There are many types of Hyaluronic acid available such as Juverderm Resytlane etc and this will be discussed at your face to face consultation.
